The Opensource University (OSU) is an international research and innovation organization dedicated to advancing Open Science, Open Technologies and Digital Sovereignty.
Our mission is simple yet ambitious:
To contribute to Africa's scientific, technological and economic development through open knowledge, collaborative research and interoperable digital infrastructures.
We believe that sustainable development cannot rely solely on importing technologies. Nations become resilient when they create, understand, improve and govern the technologies they use.
OSU promotes an ecosystem where science, engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, open standards and digital public infrastructures work together to accelerate innovation.
Our philosophy is based on four fundamental principles:
• Knowledge must remain accessible.
• Technologies must be interoperable.
• Innovation must be collaborative.
• Digital infrastructures must preserve national sovereignty.
By combining research, engineering and capacity building, OSU aims to become a catalyst for a new generation of African scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and public institutions capable of designing technologies that serve society.
